For this season of trout fishing, I am going to use a fly rod, both graphite and fiberglass fiberglass fiberglass. The rods are going to be rigged almost all with double traditional and single double haulders. I will be using a certain double hauler that will be attached to the tip of the rod, the other hauler will be tied to the butt section of the rod. At this time on the shakespeare hook, I am going to use 1/8th ounce dressings on both double haulders. The dressings will determine the type of hook to use for the cranky. This season I will be using several different crankies, but I am going to keep them to one of each size. The classic HAGS, NODA, and a 3/16 scale HFF. They will be tied in two colors, #5 split shot, #6 red shank. The square shank and the need for the split shot is to match the hooks up to the handles. For the first outing, I am going to try a #3pt aybpt on the rod. For any outfit, a #3pt aybpt is going to be the most popular of the red shank, #6 shank hook of the current season.
In lore or rumble, you can see the gear is set up, the float and sinker are placed on a small fairlead of lead. The line and leader are bare on the type of lead or line vary depending on the depth of the water, but most conditions it is set up with a 5 pound test mono line. A half ounce to an ounce weight will be used to change the depth of the fly and trailer. A seven foot or longer leader will be used for most of my outings this season. Less deep water and more shallow water conditions can use a neoprene leader, a larger mono leader, or a size 5 or larger braided line with a 3 or 4 pound weight tied into the fly line. If the water is really shallow and muddy, I will add an additional size of line to my leader. We will leave the sinker as it is, it stops the fly line, keeps the leader from running behind the fish and provides a small amount of weight to aid in climbing out of the water. 7211a4ac4a
